FAQ
Got a problem
Has my booking gone through?
To check that your nakedpassport purchase has gone through
Once the payment has gone through a confirmation page would have showed up with your login name and temporary password.
You will also receive a confirmation email (to the email address provided) with the same login name and temporary password for you to sign into our manage booking system.
If, however, you do not receive it within an hour or so of your transaction then please check your spam or junk mail folder and if it is not there, then contact us
To check that your bus trip booking has gone through
If you got your reference number on the confirmation page, you are booked. The reference number looks like this: 1230101-08N1-AKLWLG. Check that your reference number has 17 characters.
If you didn’t get your reference number, please check your email for the nakedbus.com® confirmation email. If you have received this then your transaction was successful. Your confirmation email has your reference number.
If, however, you do not receive it within an hour or so of your transaction then please check your spam or junk mail folder and if it is not there, then contact us.
Booking Form does not work
Make sure that:
- your browser has javascript enabled
- you are using the latest version of Firefox (1.5+) or Internet Explorer (5.5+)
- you have cookies enabled
If you are having problems with the booking form please follow these instructions:
Problem: Can’t enter a “travel to” destination
Solution:
1. upgrade your browser to the latest version (we support IE6 +, Firefox 1.5+, and recent versions of Safari).
2. enable javascript.
You can enable javascript as follows:
- Firefox 1.xx: Tools -> Options -> Web Features : “Enable JavaScript”
- Firefox 2.xx: Tools -> Options -> Content : “Enable JavaScript”
- Internet Explorer: Tools -> Internet Options… -> Security -> Custom Level… : “Scripting” : “Active scripting” : “Enable”
Problem: Booking form keeps logging out when I try to search
Solution: Please ensure that you have cookies ENABLED. This website uses cookies to store details of the trip(s) you are searching for. At the very least you’ll need to allow cookies for the domains ibooking.nakedpassport.com and nakedpassport.com.
To enable cookies:
- in Firefox go to Tools -> Privacy, and tick “Accept cookies from sites”
- in Internet Explorer go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Privacy and set the slider on “medium”
You should then be able to use the booking form.
Problem: My travel date is not available
Solution: We release seats for a limited set of future dates (the dates that bookings are available vary from time to time). Please check when your date will become available.
Please note that some services do not run every day. See nakedpassport.com/bus-timetables for more details.
If you are having other booking problems, please email us via the contact form.
Problem: My destination does not show up in the “travel to” box
Solution: nakedbus.com® does not have a same day service between these two locations. You will have to make an overnight stop. Use the route map to plan your trip.
Please note that we do not sell ferry tickets so you will have to make your own arrangements for the ferry between Picton and Wellington.
Cancellations
You cannot cancel your passport once purchased.
You can cancel trips booked as long as it is more than 24 hours before departure. Please use the cancel booking function on the website. We do not accept cancellations by email or phone.
Problem with your journey?
If anything went wrong with your journey, let us know using the contact form.
Why doesnt the 0900 number work?
Some phones are barred from calling 0900 numbers (you may be able to make toll calls but not calls to 0900 numbers). In this case it sounds like the number is disconnected or not working.
What to do: Call your phone service provider (Telecom, Vodafone etc) and ask them to remove the 0900 bar from your phone. They may say that you do not have a toll bar - but please persist - explain that it is an “0900 toll bar” and don’t take no for an answer!
Please note that you can only call the 0900 number from New Zealand
We have an 0900 number in order to reduce our costs so that we can offer lower fares to our customers. 99% of our customers do not need to contact us by phone, and we do not wish to penalise them by increasing the fares to pay for a call centre, when all the information on our service can be found on the website.
Upon calling our 0900 number there is a message provided stating the price of the call per minute and an option for customers to hang up at this stage if they do not wish to pay for the call. We also have a free email service.
Alternatively you can contact us via the Contact Form.
Lost Property
Fill in our contact form with your reference number, a detailed description of the item(s) and a number to contact you at, and we will try to find your property.
- You will be liable to cover any cost to return the item(s) to you
- We will only contact you if we have found the item

Cancellation and Refund Policy
Nakedpassport purchases are non-refundable.
If you made a mistake or cannot meet a reserved booking you can cancel the booking online. The cancellation has to be complete 24 hours before the bus departure time of your original booking. Please see our “How to Cancel” video.
Can I book with the driver?
All our bookings have to be completed online through the manage booking system (when you sign in with your login name and password). This is because our buses will only stop at the location if there are customers to be picked up. So make sure you book your seat online to avoid disappointment.
I wish to be pickup/drop off at another location
Unfortunately our buses only pick-up/drop-off at the designated stops that you booked for. You could try asking the driver if your preferred drop-off point is on the route (before where you have booked to) and whether they would mind stopping for you. However, it is at the drivers discretion as to whether they do this or not, and we cannot guarantee this.
If you wish to be picked up at a different stop you must cancel your booking and make a new one.
Our Security
Credit Card Security
We use 128 bit security for a completely secure site so you can rest assured that your payment is secure. We use iframes for the payment window, so the padlock and “https” in the address bar, which usually indicate a secure site, do not appear. The iframe page is HTTPS, which is a version of HTTP that includes data encryption for security, but the outside page is not.
If you wish to confirm this, you can open the iframe page outside the frame. To do this in your Firefox browser, right-click on the payment frame, and choose This Frame -> Show Only This Frame, and it looks like this:

Your Email address
You can rest assured that we will not spam you or sell your email address to a third party. We will only use your email address to send you booking confirmations or, if you have signed up to it, our monthly newsletter, which you are able to unsubscribe from at a later date if you wish to do so.
